A wide range of PE is delivered to the pupils at St. Catherine's. The 6 areas of PE; Games, Athletics, Gymnastics, Dance, Swimming and Outdoor and Adventurous Activities are taught by our class teachers and sports coaches, using and adapting the Arena schemes of learning. We are committed to continual professional development, enhancing teachers' skills in delivering the PE curriculum. Primary School Sport Premium

Our focus this year will be on improving pupils performance in Games, attacking and defending and the tactics needed to win a game. Staff have worked alongside coaches from Plymouth Argyle Community Sports, gaining extra subject knowledge and CPD in Multi-Skills, Tag Rugby, Basketball, Athletics, Tennis and Football. We have employed swimming coaches from the Phoenix Leisure Centre to improve swimming, to give all pupils confidence to swim 25 metres and to be able to use life saving skills by the end of Year 6. Staff have attended swimming courses to refresh their subject knowledge. The funding has also provided extra provision in the teaching and learning of Dance, providing staff with the opportunity to become more confident and competent within their own teaching. We are SLA members of the Sports Partnership ARENA, which has provided ongoing professional development. Our sports partnership with Launceston College has given pupils opportunities to attend festivals and tournaments with other local schools.
