Hello and welcome to St Catherine’s Nursery Unit. We are situated adjacent to the main school building and provide friendly, caring, high quality nursery provision for 3 and 4 year old children.
The Nursery is open 5 days per week during term-time only, Monday—Friday, 9am-3:15pm.
We support the view that every child deserves the best possible start in life and support to fulfil their potential. We believe children learn by playing and exploring, being active and through creative and critical thinking.
A child’s experience in the early years has a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right. Good parenting and high quality early learning together provide the foundation for children to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum (EYFS) and plan a variety of activities both indoors and outdoors which aim to encourage children’s independence and imagination across the 7 areas of Learning and Development to support your child’s whole development.
If you would like more information about your child starting with us, please feel free to contact the school who will be help. We look forward to welcoming you. Come and see us and meet our team.
This term Nursery are thinking about Special Times and Celebrations. All of the children have really enjoyed exploring and retelling stories so we will be exploring the story of The Gingerbread Man before turning our attention to talking about fireworks. Please talk to your child about keeping safe on bonfire night. Why not make your own firework picture by sprinkling powder paint and glitter onto glue on black paper. We will then be thinking about the Hindu festival of Diwali by retelling the story of Rama and Sita and tasting some Indian snacks. You could make play dough divas (candle holders) and decorate them with glitter, beads or sequins. We will then be celebrating and thinking about a special birthday in Nursery before ending the term by celebrating advent and Christmas.

Nursery Children enjoyed playing Pass the parcel and dancing games during their Christmas Party. Mrs Pollard was D.J. in charge of music at the party.
