Year Three

Welcome to Year 3

Drumming Workshop

The sound of drums boomed out around school this morning as Class 3 took part in a drumming workshop, with Jane from Cymaz Music. This is a first access programme funded by Cornwall Music Education Hub.

The children had a great time and joined in with their usual enthusiasm.

Roman Day.

To complete their topic of The Romans, Year 3 held a Roman Day. During the morning they made Roman style soup, learning the skills of carefully, peeling and chopping as they prepared the vegetables needed. Later they enjoyed tasting the soup as well as taking part in Roman activities. Don't they look great in their costumes. Thank you to all parents and carers for your support with this.

Beach Clean

The day started off slightly chilly, but it did not dampen our enthusiasm to help the environment. Avril, who works with other volunteers to keep Bude beach clean, met us and explained how plastic is getting in to our oceans. she explained about micro-plastics and the damage they are causing. As the sun came out, it was then our turn to help with the cleaning of the beach. After lunch we were lucky enough to go to the cinema and watch 'Early Man'.

Parental Engagement Maths Day

We invited our families into class today so they could see the maths work we do every day, they could also share maths activities with us.

 Science

We are studying the human body and have been looking at the different positions and names of some of the bones in our bodies. we have learnt how many bones there are in a hand and foot and discovered that children have more bones than an adult.

Gymnastics

Our focus this term for PE is gymnastics. We have been lucky to have year 5 demonstrating different types of jumps for us to copy.

Active Maths

Year 3 took advantage of the sunshine and enjoyed solving multiplication and division problems on the playground.

Year 3 have settled well into their new life in KS2. They have been enjoying their sessions with Plymouth Argyle every Wednesday. The children have been learning multi-skills from different ball games.
